Our Weekend. 1/18/13.

The first week of the 30 Day Shred challenge is complete. I will say that multiple days this week I could barely walk and I complained A LOT… but I am excited that I have stuck with this and I’m excited to keep going. I will say I think I wouldv’e quit after day 2 if I didn’t have the support from everyone else. And by support I mean Facebook messages bitching about how Jillian Michaels is a bitch. Shred on!

Greg and I were also busy this week with his family. His sister-in-law had an unexpected heart attack and could really use some prayers!

Friday night after a hospital visit, Greg took me out to a nice dinner in Shadyside. We don’t get down their often so it was a nice change of pace. MMM fresh scallops.

Saturday was an exciting day… I finally got a manicure & HOCKEY IS BACK! We met up with some friends to watch the first game at a new joint in Robinson (Latitude 40). We even made the local news station’s website. Check it out!

(still loving anything grey)

Today is all about sports.  The Hoosiers pulled out the W. NFL is in full force (notice that the first game got me through my workout today) and the Pens start @ 7.

Dinner is in the oven (buffalo chicken potato casserole) – thanks Pinterest!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Our weekend. 1/11/13.

My goal for 2013- update the blog more frequently. Lets see how long I can go trying to post weekend updates.

Our week was pretty blah with Greg battling the flu.

Friday we were able to get out to a fun dinner with the Hough’s to celebrate a new chapter of their life 🙂

Saturday Greg stayed in bed while I cheered on the Hoosiers and finished taking down the Christmas decor.

Saturday night I joined the neighborhood gals (& Ciara) for a theater show.

Today (Sunday) was a complete lazy day filled with football.  Sad we don’t have a team left in the playoffs but it’s still the best time of the year for NFL! It was over 60 degrees outside today so it was nice to enjoy a little of that.  Sounds like the 30’s are coming back tomorrow so it was nice while it lasted.

Tomorrow I will join in on the 30 day shred challenge with some fellow family members.  If you know me, you know I don’t do working out.  I could stand to get in shape but I am hesitant to say I’m extremely motivated/excited.  We shall see!

Blizzard 2012.

So the local Indiana news referred to the snow storm we received yesterday as “blizzard 2012” – this was quite dramatic. But the blizzard did put a cramp in my pinterest Christmas Thursday post. Greg and I are currently back en route to Pittsburgh so check back tomorrow for my yarn trees that I am copying from Kendra and Michelle 🙂

Life update.

So my blogging energy has been spent focusing on a Pinterest Christmas and I have failed to share our oh so exciting life lately. I think it can be summarized in a few sentences so why not give a quick update? Not to mention I don’t have an exciting craft to post this week so maybe blogging 2 times in one week will make me feel better.

Greg & I have been quite busy the last few weeks. Since Thanksgiving, we have been in full Christmas mode.  The weekend after Turkey Day (Dec 1) kicked off our first Christmas party with our good friends the Hough’s and Cutone’s.  Our night consisted of football, food, adult beverages and board games… SHOCKING. On a side note, if you haven’t played SPOT IT before, you should. It might seem like a game for youngsters but it is definitely enjoyable with adults.

Kristen invited me to use one of her Groupon‘s that was expiring the next week and we had a blast.  All I knew going into it – BYOB and painting. So the place is called Paint Monkey and it is located in a cute little studio downtown Pittsburgh. You bring whatever you would like to drink and they provide everything else (even the corkscrew)!

This is how it looks before the instructor starts guiding the class (thank goodness they gave us lines to follow).

this is right before finishing but the last pic I have that also captures how messy this got

Overall this was a really cool experience that I can’t wait to do again someday.  Come visit Pittsburgh and we will go 🙂

The second Saturday in Dec we attended the annual neighborhood Christmas party.  This was our first year attending since we were just moving in last year.  Very thankful for all the awesome neighbors we have!

This past weekend we had a Christmas party on Friday and Saturday – it sounds like we are really popular but I promise we aren’t.

This whole month has FLOWN by but poor Greg has been battling a lot of neck pain.  He has dealt with it for years but it really started acting up again on the 2nd of this month.  After an ER trip, 2 doctor trips, blood work, MRI’s, x-ray’s, steroid injections, etc…. He is starting to feel better and we are hopeful they are figuring things out. More to come!

Shout out to Mr. Jack Pena who will turn 2 on Thursday.  See you soon buddy.

Greg & I will head home to Indiana Saturday morning and stay through Christmas.  We have off work all next week so it will be great to not have to rush back.

I hope everyone has a great/safe holiday.

Until Thursday…

week of thankfulness.

we have had quite the busy week here in Pittsburgh.  Monday evening, Mom, Dad, Ab, KP and Jack arrived.  Thank goodness they were able to come in early and help prepare for Thanksgiving dinner. I am fine with hosting, but all that cooking is a little outside of my comfort zone 🙂

this boy is a walking/talking monster. how can you not love that face?

Yaya bought the most beautiful thanksgiving flowers for our centerpiece.

after we ate, I think we all snapped into CHRISTMAS mode. this year it seems like everyone is decorating/shopping really early.  I have had the urge to decorate but had to wait until after turkey day.

Todd, Danielle, Karmyn & Sami arrived late Thursday night and then we ventured out to battle the crowds and did some midnight-5 AM shopping. I ended up buying an eyelash brush ($5) and a bath mat ($15) – ha! but everyone else got some great finds so it was totally worth it.

we woke up Saturday to SNOW and I had to start decorating immediately.

(yes, we need stockings but I couldnt pass the cute stocking holders up from Crate and Barrel last season)

the kids did a great job putting ornaments on the tree!

Henry attempted to get some Christmas photos of the kids in their matching PJs. This was more than entertaining to watch.

Greg and I now have an empty house and we aren’t sure what to do! It is weird to hear no kids laughing/screaming/playing. We have spent our day watching football and enjoying the sunshine.

OK sorry for the mini photo album i’ve just posted.

In other news- Meggy & Timmy just welcomed baby Silas into the world this week. He is adorable and I can’t wait to meet him over Christmas; Kendra & Greg moved into their new casa and I couldn’t be happier for them!; I have started my Pinterest Christmas crafts and I can’t wait to do my first entry and start seeing everyone’s outcomes.

Have a great last week of November.

Our month in photos?

Ideally our month in photos would be our weekend in photos but I’m working on that.  I’d like to say we’ve been extremely busy and I’ve had no time to update but reality is we have been home the last 2 weekends and I think I’ve just enjoyed doing nothing.

Favorite weekend of the past month is hands down our venture to FL to celebrate miss Kenley’s first birthday. Kendra Dee put together the most adorable party I’ve ever seen. This girl needs to open up a business.

Outside of this we have been watching a ton of football and getting ready for the holidays.

I’m scared to announce we will be hosting our first thanksgiving this year. Mom, Dad, Ab, Hen, Todd, Danielle and all the kiddos are making the trip out to Pittsburgh to celebrate.

Of course Pinterest still remains an obsession so ill leave you with some photos.

So I am starting to think I will begin most of our blog entries with talking about how infrequently I update. This time I think I have a pretty good excuse. For at least the last month, my friend Kristen and I have been planning a surprise birthday bash for the men in our life. I never in a million years thought I could pull off any surprise for Greg. Pretty sure he should’ve been a detective.  More on the party later.  Why do I have time to update now? Not only is the party planning over but I wrote this post while in the waiting room since I had a lovely case of bronchitis last week.

3 weekends ago we ventured to INDIANA. We were not only able to help with baby garner-ballard’s baby shower but also were able to celebrate Logan and Vanessa’s wedding! I got to also see Kendra & Misha (surprise visitors) so it made the weekend that much better! Sunday was Greg’s actual birthday so even though we spent 6 hours of it in the car, my family was happy to celebrate with him.

2 weekends ago we had some very special visitors in town- AB, Hen, KP & Jack! Always nice to see family in Pittsburgh because that means we don’t have anything on the agenda. We did make it to the pirates game (and they actually pulled off a W). Double bonus.

Last Friday my parents headed to Pittsburgh and Greg and I went about a “normal weekend”. He and Matt were under the impression we had dinner plans Saturday night and we enlisted their friend Scot to assist with keeping them busy during the day. After Greg left Saturday morning to assist Scot with building his deck, my parents came over and we starting setting up! The plan fell into place perfectly and Greg was very surprised. Huge success.

This past weekend we took it easy and actually had another surprise party to attend. This must be the season of surprises!  Quiet week ahead but Friday we head to the sunshine state to celebrate miss Kenley’s 1st birthday! Very excited to visit with the Gilbertson’s.

Pinterest on the brain.

If you’re reading this it means you are on the internet which means you have to know or have heard of pinterest. It is my recent obsession. Between fantasy football drafts and pinterest projects, we (greg less busy on pinterest projects) have been quite busy.

Two weekends ago Kristen and I made some really fun drink coasters….

I also got in the fall spirit and made some cute candy corn decor…

My favorite pinterest project thus far…

think of all the possibilities (black/orange for Halloween, red/green for Christmas, etc)

After our fun-filled craft weekend I tried to take a break. My mom and dad graced us with their presence for labor day weekend. We love having guests and of course family is even better. They seem to do more work on our house when they come than we do when they aren’t here. Thankfully our house needs little/no work but of course I love projects. Not only do I like stripes but the color grey is another obsession.

After A LOT of work, the half bath now has grey stripes!  My dad is a huge trooper (no pun intended) for seeing this one through. End product is amazing but I think I’d advise people to hire out for stripes. Not worth the time/stress.

hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. I feel like we need another vacation. Exciting news of the week is we decided to make the trip to Orlando for miss Kenley’s 1st birthday. woop woop!
